Also, we need to be memorizing our Math Facts. The class needs to be "comfortably" adding and subtracting math facts up to 20. The students know the strategies to help solve the problems, ie, using doubles, using 10's, zero, etc. but now need to work on knowing the facts. Flashcards are great, playing addition and subtraction games with a deck of cards is also a fun way to "play/learn" the math facts. It's really important to memorize these math facts. It will make addition/subtraction with regrouping, multiplication and division much easier. Please work with your child.
I sent home laminated "doubles" math cards a few weeks ago. We will be having weekly quizzes on the doubles and other math facts on Friday mornings.

Thank you for sending in the kleenex, I think we are fine for now. Please keep your eyes open for a letter from our room mothers giving you information for our auction class project.

Also please make sure that you sign the Homework notebooks and also if there is Reading homework, also sign the assignment sheet in the Reading folder.

Thanks,
Kathy

Also thank you for the can goods. First Grade is awesome! We contributed 356 cans to the total of 1162 cans collected. As the class says, "We really made a difference!"

Food Drive and Kleenex

Please send a box of kleenex in with your child. First grade has a lot of sneezing and runny noses and we are desperate!!!

First Grade Rocks and we are working hard collecting cans for the food drive. This is the last week, please help your child do chores or other things so they can earn "cans" for the food drive. They are learning about serving others and helping others. Thanks,
Kathy
